Cerebral Palsy Association of Penang (Formerly known as Persatuan Kanak-Kanak Cerebral Palsy (Spastik) Pulau Pinang/The Cerebral Palsy (Spastic) Children’s Association of Penang) is one of the three dedicated centres for cerebral palsy in Malaysia. It offers a variety of services, including special education with a focus on academic support and computer-assisted learning, as well as rehabilitation services such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and hydrotherapy.
We’ve expanded our sheltered workshop to include practical classes, enabling all trainees to work in the same space. Our goal is to prepare as many young adults as possible for meaningful and rewarding job opportunities after they leave the Center.
Special education programs cater to students who experience mental, physical, social, or emotional delays. This “delay” reflects areas of their overall development such as physical, cognitive, and academic skills that may lag behind their peers. Because of these unique needs, traditional classrooms often aren’t suitable. These programs adapt content, teaching methods, and delivery to support each child’s specific requirements.
Individual Education Plans (IEPs) are designed to address the unique needs of each child. Infrastructures are modified to accommodate these requirements, and children who struggle with writing are provided with assistive devices. Potential students are integrated into kindergarten and mainstream schools.
